To commemorate the 58,267 members of the United States Armed Forces who were either killed in action or declared missing in action during the Vietnam conflict, the public is invited to attend a Vietnam Veterans Day program at the St. Peter Community Center on Wednesday, March 29.
The St. Peter American Legion is offering a meal following the program at the Legion. The Patriotic Quilt Raffle drawing will also be held at the Legion at 7pm (need not be present to win).
The program, beginning at 5 p.m. in the St. Peter Community Center Gym, will include Posting of the Colors by the St. Peter American Legion Post 37 Color Guard, musical medley, Presentation of the Wreath, Mayor’s Proclamation, a short presentation, and Taps and recognition of the following service members from St. Peter who were Killed in Action (KIA) in Vietnam: Pfc Frederick Joseph Brenke; Sp.4 Harvey Gordon Enz; Pfc Melvin Albert Lurth, Jr.; 2nd Lt. Michael James McClellan; Pfc Dwight Duane Tollefson; Pfc Richard Raymond Weise; and Pfc Steven Edward Wettergren.
