Faribault County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Schmidtke, who served a four-year stint in the U.S. Army, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Veterans Day program at the Saint Peter High School gym at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

All area veterans are welcome to attend, and a special reception for veterans will be held before the program. Donuts and coffee will be served in the Saint Peter Community Room, next to the SPHS commons area. The public is also invited to attend the program.

Music for the program will be presented by the Saint Peter Concert Choir, under the direction of Bri Bergstrom, and by the Saint Peter High School Concert Band, under the direction of Dave Haugh. Members of the William R. Witty American Legion Post 37 Color Guard will also participate.

A special veterans’ recognition will also be presented by SPHS Principal Annette Engeldinger, honoring those SPHS alums who have served or are serving in the armed forces.

About Jenna Schmidtke
The Wells native is currently the Veterans Service Officer for Faribault County (Blue Earth, MN) and is the mother of three children (ages 15, 12 and 6). She is a graduate of Blue Earth Area High School and earned a bachelor’s in science degree (pre-med) from Austin Peay University (Clarksville, TN). She also did a four-year stint in the U.S. Army.

“I served for 4-years on active duty in the Army as a combat medic with the 101st Airborne Division, Second Brigade,” Schmidtke said. “I am honored to speak at this event, as not all of my comrades are here today to be able to speak about what we went through. It is not just my story to tell, but all of ours, and it is my duty to carry on their legacy.”
